Metropolitan Aboriginal Youth & Family Services
Many of the young boys who participated in this program live in or around the Parks.
The young boys completed a photography project along with their learning, whilst mentors and support people completed the MHFA training.
Part of strengthening Aboriginal identity is letting these boys know that their voices and feelings matter and that they should be and are valued in the Australian community.
Aboriginal men die much younger than other Australian males. Many of these young boys don’t have fathers or grandfathers in their lives.
We talked about growing up to be old and having pictures and stories to show their grandchildren and future generations.
Family and country emerged as the most important things to them.
Each of them wanted to reach a 100 at least!
